Latest Updates from Our Project:

Former Kickstarter Exclusive Games are returning O_O (+$700k SG Unlocked!)
over 1 year ago – Tue, Jun 06, 2023 at 03:28:24 PM

Hello :D

A few days ago I shared an update that opened a discussion with you all about the dilemma we’ve experienced time and time again regarding the return of Kickstarter Exclusives from previous campaigns. We read all your comments and messages and took every possible perspective into consideration (including the over 5000 responses to our survey!) while exploring the risks and feasibility of making that a reality during this campaign and, well… we’ve officially come to a conclusion!!

During this campaign, we are bringing back some of our former Kickstarter Exclusive content, with a few caveats. Based on your feedback, we’ve decided to bring back exclusives from our former projects that impact gameplay while keeping other accessory items exclusive to their original campaigns at this time. We will also be adding a 2nd edition symbol to all the cards in each of these games out of consideration to those who backed the original projects in hopes of preserving the value and first-edition exclusivity. We thought this was a great compromise solution that a lot of our fans suggested to allow fans who missed the original projects to still get access to all the characters and cards that they can’t get anywhere else!

Here is the full list of items we will be including as add-ons in this campaign:

(As a note, we decided to include all the Lucky Skipper items from the Casting Shadows campaign because there was a lot of confusion about what would or would not be included automatically, and a lot of our backers on that campaign unintentionally missed out on getting those items- we do not plan to bring these items back again on future campaigns, so this is a “last chance” for anyone who missed out on those!)

You can receive access to these Kickstarter Exclusives by backing this campaign at any level, even if you only pledge $1 and do not order a copy of Command of Nature.

I want to reiterate that these decisions were not made lightly or hastily, but we’re very excited to give you all access to some of our greatest Kickstarter Exclusives once again. They won’t be available anywhere else after the campaign ends, so make sure you don’t miss out!!

In addition, anybody who previously backed one of our Kickstarter campaigns (Unstable Unicorns through Casting Shadows) will receive a $10 credit as a Former Backer Gift that can be applied in the BackerKit store when that opens after the Command of Nature campaign ends!! You can use this towards any of the exclusives listed above (or any of the other add-ons that are available for Command of Nature)!

We sincerely appreciate your continued support in the games we bring to life <3

(If your email address has changed since you backed those campaigns, email [email protected] and let us know so we can make sure you get your credit applied automatically)

OH and while I wanted to make sure I got all of this info out to you today, I wanted to just casually throw in that we also hit our $700k SG today!!

Our venture into the tabletop gaming space began with unicorns and a dream. It’s surreal to think that we’re one week into our 7th campaign on Kickstarter already :D Whether this is your first time hearing about us, or you’ve been a supporter since day 1, we’re happy you’re on this journey with us <3

Keep an eye out tomorrow for another exciting announcement along with news about an upcoming How to Play livestream with our Lead Game Designer, Jesse!

That’s all for now :)

Upgraded Ultimate Collector's and Deluxe Boxes :D
over 1 year ago – Mon, Jun 05, 2023 at 05:28:45 PM

Hello everyone!

I am very excited to show you the shiny new boxes we've been working on behind the scenes! We just finished working out the logistics/planning out the details as I was getting ready to write this update.

There will be two new boxes- the Kickstarter Exclusive Play Mat Bundle Box and the Kickstarter Exclusive Vinyl Figure Box Set. Both boxes will feature foil detail on all sides (matching the foil detail on the Kickstarter Exclusive Edition of the game).

  • KSE Play Mat Bundle Box - this box will include the 4 Elemental play mats, the Market play mat, and the 4 acrylic standees. Everyone who backs the Deluxe Bundle or Ultimate Collector's Set will automatically get this upgrade as part of their pledge.

  1. KSE Vinyl Figure Box Set - this box will include the 4 vinyl figures and their holographic cards. Everyone who backs the Ultimate Collector's Set will automatically get this upgrade as part of their pledge.

We really wanted to design a cohesive set of collector's boxes that would feel as special and magical as the items inside them. These new boxes will allow you to store, showcase, and travel with your Command of Nature accessories in style 😎

We also designed a set of wooden tokens that we're automatically going to add to the Deluxe Bundle and Ultimate Collector's Set :) These tokens will be packaged separately, but they can fit inside the KSE base game if you want to replace the tokens that come inside.

The wooden tokens will also be available separately as an add-on in the add-on store, as will the two collector's boxes (with all their content inside). That said, if you're interested in any of the box sets, you're better off backing one of the tiers (and will also have the option to add additional sets of the full tiers in the add-on store later if you want). But I wanted to include all this info for you now just in case so you know all the options :)

My plan for tomorrow is to have an official answer on bringing back Kickstarter Exclusive games from former projects. I know a lot of you are waiting on answers to this, and we'll have something one way or another very soon.

That's all for now!

ALL playable characters revealed 🤩 (+the world of Command of Nature)
over 1 year ago – Sun, Jun 04, 2023 at 10:14:52 AM

Hello everyone :D

In today's update, I wanted to give you a deeper look into the world of Command of Nature and introduce you to all the characters. After reading through, I'd love to hear from you in the comments section below: which is your favorite character, and to which faction do you belong?

But before we get to that, we have to start by going back in time a bit.

For those of you who backed Casting Shadows (or watched the campaign) you'll find hidden in the artwork of each hex tile a Sage character. These Sages teach your character in Casting Shadows how to perform spells by traveling to different locations.

We became sort of obsessed with these characters and decided we wanted to explore this universe long before shadow magic took over. In the world of Casting Shadows, the Sages drew magic from the basic elements of the earth: Pebble, Leaf, Droplet, and Twig. Each of these four Elemental factions lends itself to a different play style within the game:

Within Command of Nature, you start with a Sage pack that includes your Sage (which comes with a card and a player board) as well as a set of Elementals and Commands that correspond to the faction you select; however, throughout the game, you'll get the chance to build your deck using characters from all Elemental factions from the Elemental Market (or double down on just a single Elemental faction).

I'm super excited to introduce to you the characters from each faction! You've seen some of these sprinkled throughout the campaign, but here is the full cast of playable characters in Command of Nature.

Which faction will you lead into battle?

So many questions (and almost as many answers!)
over 1 year ago – Sat, Jun 03, 2023 at 03:51:44 PM

Hello :D

I can’t believe it’s only Day 5 of the campaign- each Kickstarter campaign comes with its own unique set of (exciting) challenges, and this one has been no exception. We’ve been doing everything we can to keep up with every comment, question, and message we get, and we’ve also been making our way through the responses to our recent survey (which has gotten nearly 5,000 responses 😱😱😱- more on this to come) regarding our Kickstarter Exclusive items from previous campaigns.

You’ve kept us super busy- based on your suggestions and requests, we are currently assessing so many things simultaneously for feasibility and to ensure we aren’t introducing extra timeline risk. We consider every idea you present to us carefully. And when they are gameplay related, we also have to make sure anything we do is compatible with the game framework and that we’ll have sufficient time to play test, balance, and consider every scenario.

So in this update, I wanted to go through some of the biggest questions we’ve gotten in comments and messages and at least tell you where things stand, even if we don’t have answers for all of them yet.

Q: Can you add more Sages and factions to the game?

  1. This has been by far one of the most frequent questions/requests on this campaign, and to be fully transparent, it’s a really tough ask. While we had considered new factions and Sages as a possibility for (far off) future expansions, this is not something we had planned to do during this project. But our team is now aggressively assessing feasibility here to see if there is anything we can pull off. I don’t feel confident answering this officially yet, but I’ll at least say that if we aren’t able to do something during this campaign, we will very strongly consider this suggestion for future expansions :)

Q: Can you bring back KSE items from previous campaigns?

  1. This is another question I cannot officially answer yet. Historically, our answer here has been a hard no. But given the increasing number of requests we’ve gotten for this, we sent out a survey to all our former backers (thank you to everyone who participated!!) and we are carefully going through the results now. With nearly 5,000 responses on the survey, we need to take our time assessing the answers before we can make an official decision one way or another here, but I am hoping to give an official answer sometime next week.

Q: How is everything packaged, and what fits inside the boxes?

  1. As of right now, we have the KSE base game (which includes all the cards inside, including everything unlocked in stretch goals). The standees are packaged as a set of 4, as are the Elemental play mats. The Market play mat and each of the vinyl figures are packaged separately; That said, we are looking into options for some larger collector’s boxes for play mats and vinyl figures like we did on our Casting Shadows campaign. What makes this one tricky is the size of the Elemental play mats because they are the largest play mats we’ve ever made, but we are testing solutions to see if something is feasible.

Q: Is the game 2-4 players or is it 2 OR 4 players?

  1. Command of Nature is currently designed to be played with 2 OR 4 players because it is a 1v1 or a 2v2 game. That said, our team is looking into alternate play modes to allow for a 3P variation and I’ll keep you posted on how this is going.

Q: Will there be a How to Play video?

  1. We don’t plan to post an official how to play video during the campaign, but we plan to have Jesse from our games team host a live session showing how to play the game (and will post a recording of it on the campaign for those who aren’t able to attend live). We are still figuring out the logistics of this, but I’ll post about it in a future update so you have all the info before it happens!

Q: Will there be social stretch goals like on previous campaigns?

  1. Yes :) we plan to roll these out (probably) around the end of next week, and I’ll let you know more in a future update!

I also want to pause for a second to say thank you to our team, including our Kickstarter Game Experts. They’ve been super on top of everything, willing to help any way they can, and getting answers to questions in record time. A campaign like this wouldn’t be possible without you!!!

We have so much we’re still diving into (and hopefully much still to reveal as the project continues 👀). But for now, I hope you have the loveliest weekend, and thank you for being part of this journey with us so far!

SO SHINY - Holographic foil box upgrade (+vinyl, standee, and play mat info & images!)
over 1 year ago – Fri, Jun 02, 2023 at 09:58:23 PM

Hello everyone :D

This update has a ton of stuff in it! Below you’ll find closeups and info on a lot of the items in the campaign, but to start, I could not be more excited to unveil our $600k SG unlock, which is a foil box upgrade for the Command of Nature Exclusive Edition.

It’s an iridescent holographic foil spot detail that covers a lot of the box to complement the artwork that will be sure to impress on game night. Look at it in all its glory!

🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

And thank you for helping us reach this point. It would not have been possible without you <3

Next, I wanted to highlight the vinyl figures, standees, and play mats included in the campaign.

Vinyl Figures

Let’s start with the vinyl figures. Each of these features one of the Sage characters from the game along with an accompanying elemental, and they are each designed with a 3D environment. They are the most detailed vinyl figures we’ve ever done, and I wanted to provide you with turnarounds to see them from all angles :)

Each vinyl figure also comes with a special holographic card with new artwork featuring the corresponding Sage character.

Acrylic Standees

Next is our standees- they are adorable, but please note that if you get standees, they will likely arrive with a film over them that needs to be removed (and often people think their standees arrived damaged before they remove the film). After removing them, they should look like this:

Elemental Play Mats

The Elemental play mats define your personal play area in Command of Nature.

They are the biggest play mats we’ve made to date :) The question has come up about why these don’t have card outlines- the play mat is designed to house your entire play area (your formation, which is 6 cards, your player board, and your personal deck and discard pile). The configuration used for 1v1 is different from that in 2v2, and if you’re playing side by side in 2v2 with another player, your setup will be the mirror image of the person next to you- as such, to keep the play mats modular so that you can use them for any setup, we opted to create them with artwork-only, but you can still use them to organize your space (while representing your selected Elemental faction).

Market Play Mat

The Market play mat is where you will set up the Elemental and Command Markets from which you can spend your gold to get additional Elemental and Command cards for your deck.

—-------

We are continuing to chug along behind the scenes, planning and coordinating all the things to keep everything running while keeping up with all the comments, suggestions, and requests we are seeing in the comments. I know there are tons of open questions still, and I plan to make a dent in answering a lot of them in tomorrow’s update.

That’s all for now. Thank you!
